Valentino Vivace
You may have heard of this shooting star that is currently crossing the Swiss musical landscape: Valentino Vivace. For a year now, we have been witnessing the irresistible rise of an artist with Italo-pop/italo-disco inspirations, with tracks that are played in a loop on national radios. His secret recipe? Simple and well polished compositions that can be compared to his favorite cocktail: The Campari Spritz. Valentino Vivace's music is a ray of sunshine straight from the Adriatic, an invitation to dance that will probably make you move your hips and smile without you even noticing. In one year, the rise is meteoric. After more than 20 concerts in 2022, including the Montreux Jazz Festival, this funny bird with his purple mullet is already nominated for a Swiss Music Award, the ultimate accolade in the Swiss music industry. As for upcoming concerts, you can find him at the RKC in Vevey this Thursday, April 6, or at the Paléo Festival in Nyon on Sunday, July 23 at 9:30 pm. Valentino Vivace's success obviously lies in his hard work mixed with his talent, but he can also count on the musicians who accompany him. The live formula is wonderfully executed by his musician friends from the collective of La Machinerie in Lausanne. Our guitar teacher Arnaud is the guitarist on stage and in the studio, in addition to his participation as co-producer on some tracks.
The meeting between Valentino and Arnaud
Arnaud and Valentino met in 2016 on the benches of the HEMU (Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne) in a new ambitious section created by the Lausanne-based DJ Mandrax: the "contemporary music" curriculum. This new class, composed of only 6 students, is intended to train musicians in the various fields that govern the life of an artist in 2023. They are taught how to manage their careers in all aspects, from music business courses to rights courses, including courses in the recording studio. Directly, a strong friendship is created between these two students. That's when they decide to form an electro-pop duo called Chemical Fame.
This project is certainly successful, but it also brings them an artistic understanding that will be decisive later on. They spend a lot of time in studio, refine their writing and learn to know each other musically speaking. The trust is then well established. While Valentino leaves to do a master's degree in pedagogy at the Haute Ecole De Musique de Zürich, Arnaud stays in Lausanne to practice his profession as a musician and to teach at the Ecole d'Arts Apolline. In September 2021, Valentino has to create a concert with personal compositions for his thesis work. The concert takes place at the club "Mehrspur" in Zurich. He received the highest score, the juries were very enthusiastic and the "Valentino Vivace" machine was launched. Following this first success, he decides to finalize his pieces in studio to make an album. He asks for help to his musicians to finalize it, in particular to Arnaud who is going to help him to produce some pieces and who is going to record some guitar parts on his pieces.
Balance
Mandrax (creator of the "Current Music" section) wanted to help students face the challenges of being a musician in 2023. The question is rather "What does it mean to be a musician today? Arnaud seems to have given his own answer to the question: to be versatile. He has found his balance with the Apolline School of Arts which gives him total confidence in his guitar teaching, in the direction of workshops and in the direction of the end of year festival with Apolline's colors: The Apolline Fest. On top of that, he can practice his profession of musician in studio and on stage, notably with Valentino Vivace, but not only. Arnaud also plays in 4 other projects and produces musicians in his recording studio. The activities are varied, which allows him to live fully from his passion without giving it an ounce of psittacism. It is possible to make a living from one's passion, whether it is in the artistic field or not. The way is not traced, it is necessary to draw it oneself. By dint of hard work and perseverance, the stars align and grant a passage to the wildest dreams.
Apolline offers singing lessons in Lausanne as well as guitar lessons, drum lessons and piano lessons to help you perfect your musical skills.
