Apolline at the Japaneuch Festival

The winners of the "Your Manga Universe by Lake Neuchâtel in summer" competition

Apolline at the Japaneuch Festival

Apolline, renowned for its music, visual arts, drama and musical theatre courses for children and teenagers, recently took part in one of the most eagerly awaited Japanese culture events in Switzerland: the Japaneuch Festival. This event, dedicated to fans of manga, polymanga, cosplay, video games and pop culture, takes place in Neuchâtel (hopefully for many years to come) and attracts thousands of enthusiastic visitors. Other activities include book signings and conferences. Our participation in the 2024 edition of this event was marked by the organisation of a drawing competition on the theme "Your Manga World by Lake Neuchâtel in Summer", which highlighted the artistic talents of our students from the Lausanne region in particular, but from all over French-speaking Switzerland too.

Apolline at the Festival

Presentation of our participation

Apolline had the privilege of taking part in the Festival, a not-to-be-missed event for fans of Japanese culture in Switzerland. It attracts thousands of enthusiasts every year. The aim of our presence was to promote the artistic talents of our students and immerse them in an environment rich in creativity and pop culture.

The purpose of our presence at the festival

By taking part in the Japaneuch Festival, Apolline wanted to offer its students an exceptional platform for expressing their creativity. We organised a drawing competition on the theme "Your Manga world on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel in summer". The competition allowed young artists to draw inspiration from the lake's magnificent natural setting, while incorporating elements of Japanese culture into their drawings. Our aim was to stimulate their imagination and enhance their artistic skills in a dynamic and inspiring cultural context.

The Competition

Organized by Apolline

École Apolline organised a competition at this Festival, offering young artists the chance to showcase their talent on a captivating theme. The opportunity attracted many participants, each bringing their own unique and creative vision of this idyllic setting associated with the Japanese world.

Terms of participation and selection criteria

Participants were invited to submit their works in line with the proposed theme. The drawings had to capture the essence of summer by the lake, while incorporating elements characteristic of manga. Selection criteria included creativity, originality, technique and relevance to the theme. A jury made up of École Apolline teachers and art professionals assessed the drawings to select the winners.

Educational and creative objectives

The aim of the competition was to stimulate the creativity of the young participants while providing them with an enriching experience. By taking inspiration from the landscape and integrating it into a context, the students were able to explore new artistic techniques and develop their own style. The project also strengthened their visual arts skills and their ability to work on thematic projects.

Student participation and commitment

The turnout was exceptional, with a high level of involvement from pupils from École Apolline. Their enthusiasm and commitment were evident in the quality and diversity of the drawings submitted. The event also created a positive dynamic, encouraging pupils to help each other and share ideas, while boosting their self-confidence.
